I know one of the cable companies lets you see utilization by the hour, one of the guys at work was giving his wife a hard time because he could see when she was using lots of bandwidth.likely watching netflix. ![]() I would think the ISP would have tools to let you do this. The common way to do this is with netflow collection and a external server to the router. You can get usage reports from other third party routers but it will not enforce any caps. It shows you the network traffic on your computer and helps you to set limits, priorities and rules for that traffic. It is not as popular so it is not supported on as many router. NetBalancer is a Windows application for local network traffic control and monitoring. The only third party firmware that has ability to run caps is called gargoyle. You end up having to run third party firmware to even think to do things like this. The only way you can really do this is if the router collects the data. If you would use a device like a phone the PC would have no knowledge of that usage but the ISP would. The huge problem with any of this type of software is it can only create reports for data it has. ![]() Not sure I have seen one that has daily cap limits most are monthly. I used the free edition of Net Balancer in the past and it did the job. If you have windows 8 there is a similar free app called windows usage.
